Elektroninė rezidentūra Lietuvoje
However, it should be noted that the e-Resident ID-card does not grant Lithuanian citizenship nor the right to enter the EU to its holder, as it is not a physical identity card.
The main opportunities provided by e-residency in Lithuania:
- Lithuanian e-residency provides foreign nationals with electronic identification and qualified electronic signature capabilities that may be used for company incorporation and corporate administration where supported by the Lithuanian Centre of Registers. However, e-residency does not automatically guarantee eligibility for electronic company registration. Founders must satisfy the applicable identification, documentation, share capital and registration requirements.
- Lithuanian e-residency does not automatically grant the right to open a personal or corporate bank account or provide access to a simplified banking procedure. Banks and payment institutions independently assess applicants under applicable AML/KYC requirements, including identity verification, beneficial ownership checks, source-of-funds assessments and the nature of the proposed business activities. Financial institutions may accept Lithuanian e-residency credentials for certain identification procedures, but account opening remains subject to their internal policies and approval.
- Remote management of the company, remote accounting
- Use of electronic digital signature
- Access to Lithuanian state portals
Lithuanian e-residency is a digital identification status rather than citizenship or a residence permit. It does not grant the right to enter, reside or work in Lithuania or other Schengen countries, nor does it confer voting rights, citizenship, tax residency or automatic access to banking services. E-residents remain subject to applicable immigration, corporate, tax and regulatory requirements when conducting business in Lithuania.
Applications for Lithuanian e-residency are initiated electronically through the Lithuanian Migration Information System (MIGRIS). Applicants must complete the required identity verification and biometric data submission procedures. Foreign nationals legally staying in Lithuania may submit their applications at the Migration Department, while eligible applicants residing abroad may use designated external service providers in countries where the service is available. The state fee is EUR 90, with an additional EUR 80 service fee generally applicable to applications submitted through an external service provider. Once the application has been processed and the identification and electronic signature card issued, it must be collected through the applicable collection procedure. Applicants are not universally required to travel to Lithuania to obtain their cards. Once your status of e-residence is approved it is valid for 3 years.
Lithuanian e-residency may facilitate remote business administration by providing access to supported electronic government services and qualified electronic signatures. However, not all corporate procedures can necessarily be completed remotely using an e-resident card. Company registration, corporate banking, notarial transactions and regulatory authorisations may require additional identification, documentation or personal attendance, depending on the applicable legal requirements. The lawyers of Company in Lithuania UAB are ready to help and consult, as well as provide their services for registering your business in Lithuania. Company in Lithuania UAB provides legal and regulatory assistance to businesses applying for authorisation as Crypto-Asset Service Providers (CASPs) under Regulation (EU) 2023/1114 (MiCA). Since 1 January 2026, Lithuania’s former national VASP registration regime no longer provides authorisation to offer regulated crypto-asset services. Companies intending to provide crypto-asset services within the scope of MiCA must generally obtain the required authorisation from the Bank of Lithuania or qualify for an applicable exemption.

How to submit an application for granting the status of an electronic resident of the Republic of Lithuania?A foreigner who is at least 18 years old must fill in an application for granting the status of an electronic resident of the Republic of Lithuania through the Lithuanian Migration Information System (MIGRIS) and submit it to the Migration Department. A foreign national who is legally staying in Lithuania may submit an e-residency application in person through the Lithuanian Migration Department after completing the relevant steps in MIGRIS. Applicants residing abroad may apply through authorised external service providers in countries where Lithuanian e-resident services are available. After filling in the application through MIGRIS, the foreigner must appear in person at the chosen external service provider within 4 months from the date of filling in the application through MIGRIS, and a foreigner legally staying in the Republic of Lithuania must arrive at the Migration Department and submit:
- a valid travel document that meets the identification requirements established by the Law on the Prevention of Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing of the Republic of Lithuania;

After collecting the electronic identification and electronic signature means, the foreigner must activate it through MIGRIS.
